الرحْمَٰنُ (1)
Ar-Rahman
The Beneficent
عَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ (2)
'Allama al-Qur'an
He taught the Qur'an
خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ (3)
Khalaqal Insan
He created man
عَلَّمَهُ الْبَيَانَ (4)
'Allamahu al-Bayan
He taught him eloquence
الشَّمسُ وَالْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ (5)
Ash-Shamsu wal-Qamaru bihusban
The sun and the moon (move) by precise calculation
وَالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ (6)
Wa an-Najmu wa ash-Shajaru yasjudan
And the stars and trees prostrate
وَالسَّمَاءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيزَانَ (7)
Wa as-Samaa'a rafa'aha wa wada'a al-mizan
And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance
أَلّا تَطْغَوْا فِي الْمِيزَانِ (8)
Alla tataghaw fi al-mizan
That you not transgress within the balance
وَأَقِيمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيزَانَ (9)
Wa aqeemoo al-wazna bil-qisṭi wa la tukhseerul mīzān
And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance
وَالْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ (10)
Wal Arda wada'aha lil Anam
And the earth He laid out for the creatures
فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ (11)
Feeha fakihaton wa nakhlon wa rumaan
Therein is fruit and palm trees with sheaths of dates
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (12)
Fabyi ayyi alaa'i rabbikumaa tukaththibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ كَالْفَخَّارِ (13)
Khalaqal Insana min salsaalin kalfakhhaar
He created man from clay like that of pottery
وَخَلَقَ الْجَانَّ مِنْ مَارِجٍ مِّنْ نَارٍ (14)
Wa khalaqal jaanna min maarijin min naar
And He created the jinn from a smokeless fire
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (15)
Fabyi ayyi alaa'i rabbikumaa tukaththibaan
So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?
رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَرَبُّ الْأَرْضِ وَرَبُّ مَا فِيهِنَّ (16)
Rabbus samawati wa rabbul ardi wa rabbumaa feehinna
Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth and Lord of whatever is between them
فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ (17)
Fabyi ayyi alaa'i rabbikumaa tukaththibaan
